Learning Labs ($)

Wednesday-only, in-depth, cutting-edge information on hot topic areas designed to be interactive, these 3 ½ hour learning labs will offer you hands-on exercises with appropriate clinical practices.
Presented by leaders in the field of audiology and/or associated professions. Space is limited so be sure to secure your spot as soon as registration opens on November 4 for Academy members.
Featured Sessions
These sessions are a popular staple of the AAA conference and focus on contemporary, forward-thinking topics presented by leaders in the field of audiology, hearing science, and related professional areas. The Program Committee invites presenters for these sessions based on their expertise in given topic areas.
The sessions will include topics such as Hearing Aids in Review: 2024, Coding and Reimbursement, Ethics, Disparities in Audiology, Artificial Intelligence, Hyperacusis Management and Treatment, Cognitive Dysfunction, Managed Care (TPAs) and Animal Audiology. The Marion Downs Lecture, a signature AAA event, is set for Friday morning and will focus on the important topic of genetic testing and counseling in pediatric audiology.

Grand Rounds
Our Grand Rounds are educational session that features a moderator and four presenters. During these 90-minute sessions, four complex clinical cases, research findings, or new treatment protocols will be discussed, along with outcomes. Our Grand Rounds serve not only as a platform for knowledge sharing, but also as an opportunity for professional development, networking, and fostering a collaborative spirit among hearing health-care providers.

Learning Modules, Mini Modules, and Research Podiums
In addition to our invited featured sessions, grand rounds, and learning labs, we will feature more than 100 submitted presentations for a comprehensive educational overview. Session categories will include Academic and Clinical Education, Adult Diagnostic, Amplification and Assistive Devices, Basic Science and Translational Research, Career/Personal Development, Hearing Conservation, Implantable Devices, Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues, Neuro-Audiology, Pediatric, Practice Management, (Re)habilitation and Counseling, Tinnitus and Decreased Sound Tolerance, Vestibular. You’ve told us you want, and need, training to help you in your professional and/or leadership development and growth, particularly those of you that are newer to the profession and are seeking strategies and advice for advancing your career. To address this need, the Academy is once again hosting a series of professional development education on Wednesday at AAA 2025 in New Orleans called “Beyond the Booth.” Earn CEUs for each session! There is no additional fee to gain access, but we ask that you please RSVP so we may plan accordingly.
Audiology Assistant Track

Audiology assistants play a crucial role in the success of an audiology practice which more often than not, includes wearing a variety of hats – from clinical, hands-on interaction with patients such as performing hearing aid screenings and taking hearing aid order and repairs, to helping to run the business effectively and at a high-level of productivity. Elevating the skills of your audiology assistant improves clinic efficiency, enhances patient care (and makes your patients happy), and gives your practice a competitive advantage. The American Academy of Audiology is dedicated to supporting the profession and is proud to offer our all-new Audiology Assistant Track at AAA 2025+HearTECH Expo in New Orleans.

Discussion Forums
Discussion Forums are innovative and collaborative sessions that will further engage attendees to build connections and share best practices. Think of the Discussion Forums as specialty group rooms that are led by one session moderator and appeal to those attendees who are interested in discussing broad-based issues with like-minded professionals in the area of pediatrics, practice management, vestibular, and amplification.
A DEIB Dialogue– Building an Inclusive Profession
Thursday, March 27, 1:00–2:00 pm
Presenters: Ethan Platt, AuD, Chair of the DEIB Committee; Patricia Mazzullo, AuD, Walter Reed Hospital; and Nancy Silbernagel, AuD, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
The session offers opportunities for everyone to collaborate, learn, and engage around strategies, implementation, and application of bringing together diverse voices committed to transformative environments when DEIB is ever-evolving. The DEIB Committee will review current issues and report on committee priorities, including follow up from the 2024 Recruitment Town Hall. Participants will then have the opportunity to engage in group discussion about expanding the audiology profession and challenges in clinical practice to supporting an inclusive community.
Advancing Research in Audiology: Building Community Boards

Presenters: Melinda Anderson, PhD, Research Scientist in Hearing Sciences, Meta; and
Kelly King, AuD, PhD, Program Officer, National Institute on Deafness and Communication Disorders
Building on the discussion during the AAA 2024 research networking session, a panel of speakers will provide current updates and offer insights into optimal strategies for building community boards in audiology research studies. Dr. Kelly King, an Audiologist and Program Officer at the National Institute on Deafness and Communication Disorders (NIDCD), will discuss NIDCD priorities and grant requirements relative to community boards. She will also join a panel of others with NIH, PCORI, and other funded research who will share their success stories in building successful community relations to advance their work. Session participants will have the opportunity to engage with the panelists, as well as to network with other researchers in roundtable discussions. The RI Task Force encourages participants to bring questions and be prepared to share their own experiences in building community boards.
