The specific goal of this guideline is to provide a set of statements, recommendations, and strategies for best practice in the provision of a comprehensive treatment plan for the audiological management of adults with hearing loss.
Key Points
This guideline addresses the technical aspects of hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, and validation, but within the context of a comprehensive treatment plan. This guideline does not address treatment with cochlear implants. It consists of descriptions of clinical processes and, where appropriate, the assessment of evidence for specific recommendations in four general areas: assessment and goal setting; technical aspects of treatment; orientation, counseling, and follow-up; and assessing outcomes.
