About

The Academy's federal legislative and regulatory activities seek to educate and shape national policies regarding hearing health-care issues and to assist in achieving the Academy's advocacy goals.

Legislative & Regulatory Committee

The Legislative and Regulatory Committee (LRC) works to support the Academy’s public policy priorities. To do this, the committee identifies and analyzes federal and state issues impacting our members’ practice, assesses ongoing advocacy efforts, and develops strategies. By developing well-informed positions and decisions, the LRC strengthens audiology’s presence in policymaking but also drives forward initiatives that advance the practice.

If you are interested in serving on the LRC Committee, please visit the official committee page.

Legislative

The Academy represents the interests of audiologists on federal legislative matters impacting the practice of audiology by monitoring the activities of the U.S. Congress. The Academy strives to keep its members updated on current legislation, while engaging lawmakers on key issues to ensure the voice of audiology is heard on Capitol Hill.

Legislation of Interest

Regulatory

The Academy advocates for the interests of audiologists by addressing federal regulatory matters that impact both the profession and the patients they serve. Numerous federal agencies, including CMS, FDA, HHS, FCC, and NIH, impact audiology and broader hearing and balance health care. The Academy diligently monitors and engages with these agencies, representing members' interests through in-person meetings and written communications. Academy committees and the Advocacy Council guide the Academy’s stance on emerging issues and keep members informed.
