The American Academy of Audiology (Academy) is excited to offer Audiology Journal Clubs as a new CEU opportunity to universities and state-level organizations. Audiology journal clubs are a unique way to review and discuss literature, stay current in the field of audiology, and ultimately result in improved patient care by incorporating discussion into practice.
How the Program Works
Sponsoring Organization and Contact Person. This program is available to universities and state-level organizations. The sponsoring organization must designate a single contact responsible for communication with the Academy and submission of the Journal Club Program Report Form within 30 days of each Journal Club meeting.
Article Selection. The sponsoring organization may select any peer-reviewed publication related to audiology for each in-person or virtual video conference journal club meeting. (Please note: audio-only conference calls are not permitted). The publication name, the title of the article, author(s), and publication date must be provided to the Academy following the club meeting on the Journal Club Report Form along with members requesting CEUs.
Learner Outcomes/Discussion Requirements. The journal club program focus is knowledge and the journal club discussion must include, but is not limited to, the following learner outcomes:
- Discuss background information related to the topic/ previous studies/purpose of the article
- Discuss any significant statistical or clinical results
- Identify strengths and limitations of the article
- Describe ways to apply results to patient care and clinical practice
CEUs: Maximum of 0.1 CEUs per club meeting.
Fees. A one-time journal club package fee submitted with the application. (Journal club offerings will not be added into the total number of CE provider course offerings when calculating semi-annual CE Provider billing.)
