About Dr. Venskytis

What are your clinical interests?
Audiological care as part of interprofessional teams, cochlear implants, complex diagnostics, and clinical instruction of AuD students.

What do you love most about your job?
I love how many different roles I can serve within the realm of audiology. I am able to continue my work with patients, while training the next generation of AuD students. Working in both the classroom and the clinic allows me to teach students the rationale for evidence-based practice and guide students in its practical application.

What’s a project you’re working on right now? Why is it meaningful to you?
I am currently working as the director of clinical education to assist in the development of the AuD program at MGH Institute of Health Professions. Bringing an audiology program back to the Boston area not only serves a need in this region for the audiology community, but also brings more awareness of audiology to health professions’ students and faculty with opportunities for AuD students to work with students in closely related fields such as speech, physical, and occupational therapies.

How has your career benefited from being a member of the Academy?
Being a member of the Academy and being involved in various volunteer roles has allowed me to build great connections with audiologists in the field across the country. I enjoy working with passionate audiologists and those making change for the benefit of the field and our patients.

Any tips or advice for new members on how to best leverage their Academy membership?
Get involved! There are so many ways to participate whether that is short-term, micro volunteer opportunities, to joining committees for a few years. Participating in the AAA Annual Conference is also another great opportunity for new members to learn more about the Academy.
