Lt Col Kwame Curtis, AuD, CPS/A

Lt Col (Ret) Kwame Curtis, AuD, CPS/A, retired from the Air Force in the fall of 2022 and is currently the owner and chief audiologist of Crescendo Hearing in St. Louis, Missouri, specializing in clinical, hearing conservation, mobile services, and forensic audiology.

Prior to that, Dr. Curtis held commands in bioenvironmental engineering and public health while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB), Mississippi. There he guided one of the first and largest COVID vaccine deployments in the Air Force during the height of the pandemic.

Dr. Curtis was also the surgical services director while stationed at Lakenheath AB, in England, United Kingdom, providing leadership and advocacy to forward deployed surgeons. Prior to that Dr. Curtis served as the Air Force Audiology Liaison for the Department of Defense Hearing Center of Excellence (HCE), whose mission is to heighten readiness and health, through congressional legislation focused on prevention, diagnosis, mitigation, treatment, rehabilitation, and research of hearing loss and audio-vestibular system injuries.

While stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas, Dr. Curtis served as the executive officer for the 59 Medical Wing and San Antonio Military Health System Commander, whose mission is to provide deployed and home station health care, graduate medical education, and clinical research, all designed to enhance Air Force readiness.

Additionally, he has held various positions as clinical director or chief of audiology in various stations including, Omaha, Nebraska, Scott AFB, Il, and Aviano AB, Italy.

Dr. Curtis attended Illinois State University, where he competed in collegiate athletics and finished his master’s of science degree. He then finished an AuD at the University of Florida. Dr. Curtis lives with his wife Christy, daughter Sadie and his two sons, Drake and Deacon.
