Ethics and Institutional Review Board Information
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a group which has been formally appointed to provide review and oversight of research. The IRB is charged with protecting the rights and welfare of human research subjects.

Online Tools and Resources
The Academy has provided links to the following online tools and resources to further assist students, clinicians and researchers:
- Pubmed comprises more than 22 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher websites.
- Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts, and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities, and other websites. Google Scholar helps you find relevant work across the world of scholarly research.
- Cochrane Library provides seven evidence-based medical databases.
- Medline contains journal citations and abstracts for biomedical literature from around the world
- Resources for Early Career Scientists: The Howard Hughes Medical Institute provides a collection of resources for early-career scientists regarding leadership, funding, project management, teaching, and course design.
- Grants.gov provides a unified site for interaction between grant applicants and the U.S. Federal agencies that manage grant funds.
- NIH Toolbox is a multidimensional set of brief measures assessing cognitive, emotional, motor, and sensory function from ages 3-85, meeting the need for a standard set of measures that can be used as a “common currency” across diverse study designs and settings.
- Survey Monkey allows individuals to design their own surveys for the collection and analysis of data.
