Many audiologists feel confident in addressing “run of the mill” or low needs tinnitus patients; however\, are uncomfortable with those patients with significant degrees of anxiety/depression/distress\, what we are referring to as the one percent. This webinar will focus on higher level tinnitus treatment to those patients with the greatest difficulties with managing their tinnitus. The difference between motivation and desperation will be discussed. Tools and techniques for working\, establishing critical referral partnerships\, and successfully working with this population of patients will be provided. \nLearning Outcomes: \n1. List factors that contribute to a patient being in a category of “catastrophic” tinnitus distress. \n2. Discuss addressing anxiety/depression\, sleep interruption\, and stress that impact the patient with tinnitus and tools for supporting these patients. \n3. Describe a plan for the audiologist to address potential caregiver fatigue with this population and how to be proactive in addressing these needs. \nRegister Now URL:https://www.audiology.org/event/the-one-percent-working-with-complex-tinnitus-patients/ LOCATION:Virtual ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.audiology.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/shutterstock_2490041725-header.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20241210T120000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20241210T130000 DTSTAMP:20241114T013750 CREATED:20240806T172612Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240807T150511Z UID:103478-1733832000-1733835600@www.audiology.org SUMMARY:Unveiling the Truth About Cochlear Implants DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Meredith Holcomb\, AuD \nCEUs: 0.1 AAA / Tier 1 CEUs \nDuration: 60 minutes \nInstructional Level: Intermediate \nProgram Focus: Knowledge \nDescription: \nThe utilization rate for cochlear implants in the U.S. adult population is 2-12 percent. In large part\, this is due to ambiguity and confusion of cochlear implant (CI) candidacy amongst all hearing-health-care providers (audiologists\, physicians\, and hearing instrument specialists). Patients who need a CI often spend many years in hearing aids that are not providing adequate amplification and speech understanding. This webinar will cover how to identify CI candidates in your practice\, when to refer patients for CI evaluation\, and how to counsel patients through this process. Current CI technology\, candidacy\, and evidence-based outcome data will be discussed. Resources and tools for patients will be outlined\, and case studies will be used to demonstrate CI outcomes. \nLearning Outcomes: \n1. Participants will be able to identify patients who should be referred for a formal CI evaluation. \n2. Participants will be able to understand current FDA CI criteria for adults. \n3. Participants will be able to describe benefits of CI over hearing aids. \nRegister Now URL:https://www.audiology.org/event/unveiling-the-truth-about-cochlear-implants/ LOCATION:Virtual ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.audiology.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/shutterstock_2471567493-header.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
