What is your background in audiology?
I am a pediatric audiologist who is hard of hearing. I graduated from The Ohio State University in May 2023 after my externship at Boston Children’s Hospital and I currently work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital while a current PhD candidate at Ohio State. Clinically, I am passionate about diagnostics, amplification, multiple disabilities, and interdisciplinary care.
Research-wise, I am looking to contribute knowledge to the field regarding important family and intervention factors that impact the language and neurocognitive development of children who are D/deaf and hard of hearing, as well as further improve the evidence-based practice in pediatric audiology.
Why do you volunteer with the Academy?
I volunteer with the Academy because it allows me to be consistently surrounded with like-minded people who inspire me, support me, and amplify my passion for audiology. I also feel as though progress within and beyond the Academy makes a tangible difference for audiology students, colleagues, and patients, so I am proud to contribute to that change through my participation in the Academy.
What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?
It has connected me with amazing people who have become friends and collaborators; they not only keep me committed to lifelong learning as a clinician, but participate in consistent development of clinical and research projects to move our field forward.
What’s a favorite movie you always recommend to people? Why do you love it?
My favorite movie is The Princess Bride. It has emotion, humor, action, and pathos; it is endlessly quotable and never gets old.
What are you most looking forward to at the AAA 2024+HearTECH Expo, April 17-20, in Atlanta?
I am most looking forward to reconnecting with friends and collaborators in audiology.
